EASTER DELIGHT FOR SECONDBITE

Australian Venue Co is driving fundraising for food charity SecondBite across the Easter long weekend, donating money from every ‘parma’ sold at pubs across the country.

SecondBite is Australia’s largest free food rescue organisation, assisting 1,400 charities, with a mission to end food waste and food insecurity by rescuing quality surplus food from growers, manufacturers and retailers and distributing it free of charge to feed Aussies in need.

The nationwide initiative by AVC will run across all venues that sell chicken parmigiana on their menu, spanning 150+ pubs, in every state in Australia, from Friday 7 to Monday 10 April. The group will donate $1 from every parma sold.

Diners will also be offered the option to add a $1 SecondBite donation to their order via mobile app – with AVC dollar-matching every contribution.

SecondBite is a long-time charity partner of AVC, which helped provide nearly 60k meals to Australians doing it tough last year. AVC CEO Paul Waterson says SecondBite is proof that small contributions can add up to make a huge difference.

“Every $1 donated can support up to five meals to those in need, which is an incredible result.

“We’re very proud to support SecondBite and the amazing work that they do, and look forward to raising additional funds for them this Easter.”

SecondBite acting CEO Lucy Coward says the campaign will raise much-need funds for its efforts.

“At a time when one in five Australians experience food insecurity every single day, AVC patrons can know that their donation will help SecondBite rescue and deliver more meals to those who need it most.”
