DY’S DECK HAS HIT THE MARKET

Dee Why’s only beachside “pub” has hit the market, as the northern beaches basks in big-budget renovations by the biggest names in the game.

Deck is a bar-restaurant at the northern end of the retail strip on Dee Why beach with a primary service authorisation, meaning it can serve drinks without a meal. The two-storey premise faces almost due east, with a view out to sea only broken by the iconic pine trees.

While the surrounds are festooned with cafés and restaurants, the nearest pub is the Bayfields’ Dee Why Hotel on Pittwater Road, over a kilometre from the beach.

The affluent Palm Beach peninsula is seeing a first-class hospitality renaissance with Merivale’s ongoing reinvention of the iconic Newport, as well as its under-construction overhaul of The Collaroy, and the Laundy-Short major repositioning of the Mona Vale Hotel as Park House.

Deck offers a lease with 2.5 years remaining, and a further 5-year option. Rent is reportedly 12-15 per cent of current revenue.

The business has been listed with Knight Frank Hotel Brokers’ Kate MacDonald and Mike Wheatley, who note the “enormous flexibility of concept” on offer to the buyer, and are pitching it as best suited to a hotelier.

“We are looking forward to marketing this unique pub-style bar,” says MacDonald.

“This will be an exciting and affordable entry into one of the most spectacular, yet underutilised positions on the growing Northern Beaches.”

Deck Bar is being sold via Expressions of Interest, closing Wednesday 28 February. Inspections by appointment.
