Renowned US cocktail bar company Death & Co has announced the opening of its first Australian locations, in Brisbane and Melbourne CBD, scheduled to start slinging shots later this year.
Death & Co, who have bars in New York City, Los Angeles, Washington DC and Denver, are teaming up with Australian Venue Co (AVC), operators of over 200 bars and pubs in Australia.
Known as cocktail innovators, Death & Co have won awards such as the Tales of the Cocktail convention’s ‘World’s Best Cocktail Menu’ award, and ‘America’s Best Cocktail Bar’, in the years following the opening of their flagship bar on New Year’s Eve of 2006/2007.
The Death & Co team have also published three influential books: Modern Classic Cocktails, Cocktail Codex, and Welcome Home, all of which have significantly contributed to the current craft cocktail revival.
Signature drinks including the Oaxaca Old Fashioned, Naked and Famous, and the Conference have all influenced industry trends.
Death & Co and AVC are now looking to recruit experienced personnel for the Australian venues, offering selected candidates in-person training at three of the US venues in June this year.
