After years of anticipation, Queensland’s award-winning hospitality giant Comiskey Group today celebrates the opening of its eighth venue, the Dakabin Hotel, to a massive response.
From 11:30am, the pub’s soon-to-be regulars began pouring in, ready to check out what the venue has to offer.
The venue tour began with a ceremonial auction of the first beer pull, where the winner poured and enjoyed the very first beer. Bidding started at $100 and finished at an incredibly generous $3,600.
The hotel, along with the Comiskey Group’s recently acquired Eumundi Brewery matched the amount raised to bring the total to $7,200.
The chosen charities were A Brave Life, Moreton Bay State Emergency Service, Meals on Wheels Queensland and Variety – the Children’s Charity of Queensland.
Director Rob Comiskey said the auction was a fun and meaningful way to open the hotel while supporting local causes.
He also noted that over four thousand people signed up for early access to the hotel’s booking system and that they appreciated the community’s enthusiasm.
“To receive over 5,000 bookings in just 48 hours was a fantastic result,” says Comiskey.
“It has been so rewarding to see the community rally around and get excited for their new local.”

The Dakabin Hotel’s 340-seat restaurant delivers a unique dining experience, with two kitchens, a Western kitchen that focuses on traditional pub fare, and an Eastern kitchen, offering an Asian fusion menu.
Beyond the restaurant, the Sin Bin Sports Bar focuses on live sports coverage, with a six-metre LED screen and circular LED display, blazing sports broadcasts from tennis to football.
The Eastern kitchen boasts a Hibachi grill and draws from Japanese, Thai, Korean, Indonesian and Chinese cuisines.

Beyond the restaurant, the Sin Bin Sports Bar focuses on live sports coverage, with a six-metre LED screen and circular LED display, blazing sports broadcasts from tennis to football.
Also on offer are pool tables, a 40-machine gaming room, electronic darts and a kids’ arcade, alongside a half-court basketball floor – a first for an Australian pub.

For a more chilled experience, the patio has a sunken fireplace for cosy fireside chats.
Entertainment includes live acoustic sets followed by DJs after dark, and roaming entertainers planned for the school holidays.
Group director David Comiskey focused on the construction aspect of the venue, pointing to the hard work and long nights to meet the deadline. While there are still some finishing touches to be completed, he is proud of his team and the results achieved.
The $35 million Dakabin Hotel, which sits on a generous 3.75 hectares on Brisbane’s northside, joins the group’s other iconic venues, such as Eaton’s Hill Hotel, The Doonan on the Sunshine Coast, and Eumundi’s Imperial Hotel.
“We wanted Dakabin’s first impression to scream world-class without losing that laid-back Queensland vibe,” David Comiskey told the Courier Mail.
