Australian Venue Co has announced the rollout of its new ‘order at the table’ system to enhance the customer experience and revenue across its national portfolio.
The new system offers patrons the choice of ordering at their table, using their phone, and without having to install a proprietary app.
A QR code on the table invites users to scan using their phone’s camera, and they are shown a comprehensive menu, with photos of dishes, as well as the option for language translation and dietary filters.
Customers browse and select food and drinks to order, and easily pay using a card or Google or Apply Pay. The order is then delivered to the table.
Kylie Moncur, AVC GM of sales & marketing, says the group’s core objective was solving one of the key pain points for customers.
“Nobody likes waiting in line at a busy bar to order food and drinks, taking away from whatever brought them to the venue in the first place; friends, colleagues or a date night.”
The system comes through a partnership with Melbourne tech start-up Mr Yum, and the choice of technology was a key determinant.
“It was really important to us as a company to partner with the right team to deliver this as web-based technology, rather than a native app, to remove as much friction from the customer experience as possible.”
It is now live in 33 of AVC’s venues, across NSW, Victoria, Queensland, WA and NT, increasing to 50 by Christmas with more scheduled for rollout in 2020, and AVC CEO Paul Waterson reports it’s already having a positive impact on the venues’ bottom line.
“Customers are really engaging with the product and that shows in the data with positive movement in average basket size.
“We’re excited to watch this grow and have a significant impact on the hospitality customer experience.”
