AVC GOES TO THE DOGS

Australian Venue Co. has partnered with craft beer hounds BrewDog to announce a new franchise deal and the opening of BrewDog Bars around Australia.

The pub group has committed to opening multiple BrewDog venues in the coming years across several cities, including Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

BrewDog was founded by James Watt and Martin Dickie and has become the world’s largest craft beer bar operator.

Having launched BrewDog Brisbane in 2019, which has gone on to become one of the Scottish craft brewer’s most successful sites globally, in early 2021 the company put forth plans to open several new sites across Australia and New Zealand by 2023.

There would also be a Down Under edition of the Dog House – BrewDog’s hotel for human and canine guests, featuring beer fridges in the shower and draft beer taps in hotel rooms, piping fresh Aussie-brewed stock of the award-winning Punk IPA.

This activity follows from the success of the Dog House in Columbus, and new sites in Mumbai, India and New Albany in the USA, as well as construction underway on flagship bars in Las Vegas and London.

“Australia is one of the most exciting and dynamic craft beer countries in the world,” says Dickie.

“Since opening our taproom and brewery in Brisbane, we’ve been blown away by the support we’ve received from the local community.”

AVC is one of Australia’s leading pub and bar operators and Dickie says the branded venues will be “a true showcase” of the brand.

“We can’t wait for this project to get underway with BrewDog Pentridge!”

AVC brings the power behind its portfolio of 180 venues nationally to deliver customer experiences at scale, with a focus at the BrewDog bars on high-quality beer, with suitable menus and service.

“This partnership is a gamechanger for the Australian hospitality industry and is an exciting new growth model for AVC,” furthers AVC CEO Paul Waterson.

“We really admire the globally recognised brand and business they’ve built. It’s a great fit for us.”

The first of the new bars will be BrewDog Pentridge, set to open in Spring within the walls of the infamous Melbourne prison – in the historic E Division building.

Restored interiors will offer a nod to the history of the site, featuring an indoor dining room and lounge on the ground floor, and event spaces on the first floor. Outside will offer a large modern and casual beer garden, with BrewDog container bar, bookable spaces and games area.

AVC see BrewDog Pentridge becoming a go-to destination in Melbourne for craft beer lovers.

Further sites are to be targeted nationally.
