AVC CONTINUE CAPEX PLANS, AT BMH

Australian Venue Co continues its mission to revitalise historic pubs across Australia through a multi-million-dollar renovation of the historic Brighton Metro Hotel.

Established in 1846, the 175-year-old pub Adelaide pub is a centrepiece of the Brighton community.

Investing in its stable of 150 pubs around the country, AVC has allocated $2.6 million for renovation of the buffet, sports bar and gaming room to better tailor the Brighton (BMH) to the modern Brighton community.

Work is underway in the popular buffet, Charlie’s Diner, which will remain the star of the venue while taking on a fresh new look, more comfortable seating and a new family-friendly menu.

Changes in the revitalised public bar, kids play area and new beer garden will aim to create an all-day hangout for locals and sports fans.

“It’s an historic pub with a unique offering, so we’re excited to breathe some new life into it,” explains Chief Operating Officer, Craig Ellison.

“We’re designing the entire venue with the local community in mind, so we’re being careful to preserve the elements people love while also bringing in exciting new offerings and a fresh new design.”

Venue manager Matt Rundle is expecting to add up to 40 new jobs, both front of house and back of house, and hopes the bulk of these will be local residents.

This renovation is another in plans by AVC to revamp historic pubs across its portfolio, which numbers more than 150 around Australia, and refocus them on their communities by improving design, fit-out and general offering.

Brighton Metro Hotel is slated to re-open in June 2021, although parts of the venue will remain open throughout the staged renovation.

Plans for the opening celebration are already underway, heralding a locals’ night for the community to see the full venue reveal and “take the new food and drink menus for a spin”.
