ARKABA BACKS MEALS ON WHEELS’ BIG BRUNCH DRIVE

Meals on Wheels South Australia has launched its annual fundraiser The Big Brunch Drive, with vital assistance from major sponsor the Hurley Group’s Arkaba Hotel.

The purpose of the fundraiser is to raise awareness and funds to ensure nutritious meals and social interactions are accessible for everyone.

Meals on Wheels SA has delivered over 50 million meals in the last 71 years, enhancing wellbeing, fostering social connections and promoting independence for countless community members.

Jenny Hurley, managing director of Hurley Hotel Group, which owns the Arkaba, said it is their honour to support the initiative.

“As the major sponsor, the Arkaba is proud to stand alongside this iconic organisation and help raise awareness and funds to support their essential work.

“Our sponsorship is just one way we can show our appreciation for the tireless work of their volunteers and the impact they have in our local community every single day.”

Sharyn Broer, CEO of Meals on Wheels, offers that when people feel they belong, their communities thrive.

“We’re incredibly thankful to the Arkaba Hotel for their generous support as our Major Sponsor for The Big Brunch Drive, helping us raise the funds we need to continue providing essential meals and reducing social isolation for those who rely on our services,” she said.

The Big Brunch Drive ran from 1-8 June, with groups registering and hosting their own events.

While the final tally won’t be known until 30 June, when all funds and donations are due, so far Meals on Wheels SA has raised just over $28K of its $30K goal.

The Arkaba Hotel hit the headlines last year when it unveiled a multi-million-dollar renovation before winning ‘Overall Hotel of the Year – Metropolitan’ at the National Australian Hotels Association Awards for Excellence.
