THE BROTHERS GHANEM TAKE ON THE FOX

Ghanem Group has taken the iconic Fox Hotel, promising a world-class, multi-level dining, events and entertainment precinct within Brisbane’s performing arts district.

Established in 1927, the four-level Fox is a stalwart of the Fish Lane area of South Brisbane. In recent years the hotel has been operated by Chris Morris’ Morris Hospitality, formerly Colonial Leisure Group.

Revitalisation of the heritage-listed landmark has been a subject of much debate, both due to its location within the thriving arts precinct and due to its historic architecture.

The Fox has previously been known for its uber-colourful interiors.

A full redesign and fit-out of the interior has been penned by Space Cubed Design Studio, respecting the building’s legacy and conserving representative features.

Ghanem Group is a Brisbane-based family operation founded by brothers Adonis and Nehme Ghanem in 2006, carrying on the family’s love of hospitality, dating back to 1978 and their parent’s multiple Lebanese restaurants across the city.

The Group counts a portfolio that spans Queensland and Victoria, with restaurants in Brisbane and Melbourne and the Commercial Hotel in Boonah. It serves up high-end dining experiences from around the world, including Lebanese, Spanish, modern Australian, French, American, Japanese, modern Chinese and Vietnamese-Thai.

Further growing the collection, the brothers admit The Fox is perhaps the largest and “one of our most exciting projects” to date, due to deliver a collection of modern dining and drinking experiences.

The venue is scheduled to reopen later this year, and Adonis declares it “is a true honour”.

“The growing community of this area has long-awaited the return of this legendary venue.”

Spanning four diverse floors, each aiming to capture an era of the hotel’s eclectic past, the ‘guest adventure’ begins through a new entry on Fish Lane.

Experiences will include a public bar with bistro dining at ground level, a gaming lounge, a late-night cocktail lounge, two dedicated function spaces, a retail liquor outlet, and a stunning rooftop terrace with expansive views of Brisbane’s CBD.

“This is a project that we are very much excited about,” says Adonis.
