Harvest Hotels has unveiled its major remodelling of the Aussie Inn in Hackham, destined to be the new “super pub” of South Adelaide.
The group bought the large-format suburban watering hole in 2022 from Hackham Community Sports and Social Club, along with The Lodge from GM Hotels, representing Harvest’s foray into South Australia.
A premium multi-million-dollar refurbishment has now been completed, embracing the 1980s pub’s classic period front bar while bringing it into the modern era, in a recreation by award-winning Chris Rowlands, from RADS.
The revised offering ushers in an expanded footprint, accommodating another 200 patrons for a total of 650-pax.
It makes optimal use of the outdoors, with an expansive alfresco terrace and beer garden in lush green surrounds, featuring picnic tables overlooking an epic kids’ playground. At night festoon and discreet roof lighting silhouette the building, for a “glowing” ambiance.
Inside, the bistro features a double-sided fireplace and cosy booth seating, while the expansive sports bar, with TAB facilities and 16 draught beers broadcasts sport favourites ‘live and loud’.
Looking to the local market for functions and events, a designated area caters to 300 for corporate, community and social gatherings.
“There’s space for local sports clubs to enjoy the game in the sports bar, for friends to gather and share a meal, and for parents to unwind with a drink in hand while keeping an eye on their kids having fun in the playground,” notes GM Jackson Rogers.
The kitchen will be serving quality pub favourites alongside contemporary local dishes, such as chargrilled octopus and crocodile skewers, with a ‘Butcher’s Block’ selection paying tribute to local cuts of beef, lamb and kangaroo.
And an entire section of the menu has been dedicated to the humble schnitzel, ranging a variety of ‘toppers’ including Hawaiian and King Avo.
Designed deliberately with the community in mind, creating zoned areas for all demographics, the group see it becoming the “premier pub” in south Adelaide.
“It’s a place where families can gather and enjoy the space whatever their generation,” furthers Harvest CEO Aaron Day.
“We’ve been overwhelmed with the response from the community to the launch of the Aussie Inn.
“It’s modern, it’s contemporary and we hope the community will be proud to call it ‘their pub’.”
