PUBLIC HOUSE LEADS THE WAY IN SUPPORTING WOMEN’S HEALTH

Sydney’s exclusive charity event ‘Ladies Luncheon’ enjoyed another wildly successful year, raising $550,000 in support of Randwick’s Royal Hospital for Women.

Now known as a highlight of the spring social calendar, Public House Management Group’s (PHMG) sixth annual event saw 170 guests gathered at Nobu at Crown Sydney, including Natalie Barr, Sky Leckie OAM, Georgie Curran and other high-profile influencers and media personalities.

The event included a live auction of high-end services such as a night at Crown Sydney’s Presidential Villa and a LANCE Superyacht Experience, as well as a $35,000 custom necklace designed by Matthew Ely Jewellery.

PHMG Hoteliers and philanthropists Mitchell and Harriet Waugh founded the event after the birth of their first daughter required a four-month stay at the world-renowned Royal Hospital for Women.

The event is now a top contributor to the provision of essential medical technology, which ensures life-saving care during critical periods for pre-term and sick newborns.

This year’s event exceeded its fundraising goal, enabling the charity to acquire technology such as a $260,000 ultrasound machine as well as a ventilator and humidicrib.

Harriet Waugh was thrilled by the supporters’ generosity.

“Raising $550,000 will ensure that the Royal Hospital for Women continues to offer the best care and equipment to babies in need. As someone who has personally benefited from the exceptional care at the Royal, I’m proud to see our community come together to make a real difference,” she said.

CEO of the Royal Hospital for Women Foundation Elise Jennings said the new equipment will help complications to be diagnosed and treated earlier, ensuring the best possible outcome for their newborns.

The Royal Hospital for Women’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) receives 80 per cent of its funding through non-government donations for its specialised equipment.

Since its inception, the Ladies Luncheon has raised an impressive $2.3 million for the cause.
