A private investor is divesting The 1880 Hotel in Bathurst, representing a ‘red hot’ opportunity for a freehold operation in a key regional town.
The two-storey pub, formerly known as the Edinboro Castle Hotel, resides on a high-visibility 1,233sqm lot opposite the Bathurst Council and Civic Centre.
It incorporates main bar and sports lounge with TAB, whiskey-cocktail bar, commercial kitchen and bistro, with multiple seating areas, and a large new undercover rear veranda and beer garden, with stage area, able to accommodate over 200 patrons. The hotel holds a rare 24-hour licence.
Street level has been fully, tastefully renovated, but the upper level, comprising disused accommodation rooms and a manager’s residence, makes for an opportunity for an incoming operator.
Recording local population of more than 45k people, Bathurst is a burgeoning regional city around two and a half hours’ drive west of Sydney. It serves as a regional hub to greater NSW, hosting year-round sporting events and its famous annual motorsport juggernaut.
In 2023 the hotel’s title was purchased with a lease in place by an investor, who has since needed to take possession of the business and operate it under management.
The private owner has now engaged Manenti Quinlan & Associates, in conjunction with Moore and Moore Real Estate, to market the asset as a freehold going concern.
