TINY PUB PACKS A PUNCH

Sydney’s Inner West can now boast having one of the smallest stand-alone sports pubs in Australia.

Sandwiched between Russo & Russo and the Trocadero Room on Enmore Road, Enmore, sits The Magpie, a tiny sports pub seating around 30 people.

The Magpie pays homage to the 80s-style Aussie sports pub and was inspired by former rugby league personality Tommy Raudonikis.

Aside from the tiled walls and carpet reminiscent of an RSL club, the pub features televisions playing a mix of sports as well as 90s action films.

Owners Pasan Wijesena and Russell Martin are the duo behind the new venture, as well as the neighbouring live music venue The Trocadero Room and nearby venues Earl’s Juke Joint, Jacoby’s Tiki Bar, and Darlinghurst’s The Cliff Dive.

Five local beers are available on tap, along with Guinness, wines by the glass and cocktails primarily focused on whiskey.

“It’s a tiny sports bar celebrating all things Australiana with all the quirks,” says Wijesena.

The Magpie plans to offer meat raffles and pub trivia in the near future.
