TEENAGER CHARGED OVER LAKE MACQUARIE GLASSING

Police have confirmed a man has been charged with reckless wounding after he hit another man in the neck with a glass in a Lake Macquarie pub on Friday night.

Lake Macquarie Local Area Command told PubTIC a 19-year-old man has been released on bail, to appear before Belmont Local Court in early May.

Officers responded to the report of an assault at a hotel in Warners Bay, where a 24-year-old man had been allegedly struck in the neck with a beer glass, inflicting serious lacerations. He was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to John Hunter hospital, where his condition remains serious but stable.

The alleged offender was apprehended at the scene, where a crime scene was established and forensic investigators performed an examination. The younger man was also taken to hospital for minor lacerations to his hand, before later being arrested.

He has since been charged with the serious crime of reckless wounding. The incident was reportedly an escalation of a prior dispute between the two, but it is not clear whether the men knew each other prior to the night.
