Fairfield pub rides goat celebrations into New Year

Fairfield Hotel_Miss Vietnam_cropped copyThe Fairfield Hotel is set to party tonight, bringing in the Year of the Goat with a large-scale community celebration.

Situated in a district with a high percentage of Chinese and other Asian nationalities, the Hotel is catering to the New Year celebrations with fireworks, martial arts displays and a chance to get up close with Miss Vietnam.

“We have a big Vietnamese and Chinese patron base who celebrate this,” owner Dan O’Hara explained to PubTIC.

Dan O'Hara_headshot“Fairfield and its surrounding suburbs, Cabramatta, Canley Vale and Canley Heights, have a very big Vietnamese population. Our award-winning Green Peppercorn Thai Laos restaurant attracts a lot of Vietnamese patronage.”

Taking place from 6pm ‘til late tonight and tomorrow night, the celebrations include Lion Dancing and displays from the Dong Tam Martial Arts Group, the traditional blessing of the hotel, and complimentary Yum Cha.

There will be photo op’s with Miss Vietnam Beauty Pageant Winner 2014, Green Peppercorn vouchers given away, and 20 guests will win traditional ‘lucky’ red envelopes.

The Hotel has recently signed on as major sponsors of the Cabramatta Lunar New Year Festival.

“We have also put the finishing touches on our new ‘garden of good fortune’, which is an outdoor garden area directly aimed at our Vietnamese and Chinese patrons,” added O’Hara.
