Diageo embraces technology to expand the appeal of centuries-old whisky brands

Diageo has embraced cutting-edge technology to expand the reach and appeal of centuries-old whisky brands.

Working with Google Business View, Diageo has opened the doors to four of its single malt distilleries to allow people to see and explore the history of these institutions from anywhere in the world.

Google Business View is a 360-degree interactive virtual tour of businesses, and the global drinks brand is expecting the travel-free tours will help give current and potential enthusiasts insights into the craftsmanship and hard work that goes into the trade.

“People travel from all over the world to our distilleries in Scotland to learn about the heritage and provenance of their favourite brands,” says Venky Balakrishnan, Diageo’s Global Vice President – Digital Innovation.

“Google Business View brings the immersive experience of visiting these famous landmarks to people regardless of where they are in the world. Seeing & feeling the incredible history, craft and quality first-hand will bring them closer to the brands they love. This is a great example of how we are using cutting-edge technology to pay tribute to centuries old traditions.”
